Brown V.S Board of Education
I could not find the links for the passages so I choose Brown V.S Board of Education.
I chose this case because it was a turning point in the fight against segregation. Brown V.S Board of Education case was filed by NAACP on behalf of 9 families who wanted to enroll there children in school near then. The children were denied because they were not white. The parents of the children were told to send there then to the negro schools that were poor in quality and not the same standards as the all white schools.
The case was originally brought to a district court and it was denied. When it was brought to the Supreme Court the case was looked at in more detail. This gave the NAACP the ability to prove, without a shadow of a doubt, there was no equality in segregation. By keeping the education of the children separate, you give some children negative impact on there self-esteem.
Out of this we had the first black Supreme Court justice and eventually the end of segregation. If people think the education system in the Bronx is bad now. I could not imagine how much worse off the Bronx could be.
